2023 State of Passwordless Security Report
The third annual State of Passwordless Security Report, 2023 Edition, investigates authentication risks, threats, impacts and adoption trends. Based on global security research conducted by Vanson Bourne, key findings include:
- 28% of organizations were hit by push notification attacks (MFA bombing), more than double the number reported in last year’s study.
- 3 of the 4 top attack vectors are related to authentication.
- 3 out of 5 organizations reported authentication-related breaches in the last 12 months.
- 86% see passwordless MFA as the fix to authentication security and usability problems.
The report also explores the impact of passkeys on the adoption of passwordless technologies, with a foreword by FIDO Alliance head Andrew Shikiar.
